Beijing Film Academy Project
The Beijing Film Academy (BFA) Project is an ongoing project aiming to provide students with a perspective on the teaching methods of and artworks produced at the Animation School of BFA. The archive exhibits the students’ award winning works and the Academy’s unique approach to animation pedagogy. It is also designed to illustrate the influence of transnational animation theory and practice on the shaping of national animation in China. Through these vivid animated works created by Chinese young talents from BFA, students at MIT can gain their understanding of contemporary Chinese creative culture and learn about visual storytelling and the relations of creativity and youth culture. Those materials are also used to enhance Chinese language learning.
The Beijing Film Academy project is an FL&L project developed in HyperStudio by a team made up of the teaching staff of Chinese Program and graduate students of Comparative Media Studies. The digital archive of BFA animation resources was used extensively by MIT FL&L in Chinese language teaching classes in the Spring of 2007.
