Comédie-Française Registers Project
Visualizing the
complete records of the registers of the Comédie Française Theatre Group (1680-1800), the Comédie Française Performance Archive allows researchers to dig deeper into seventeenth and eighteenth century French theatre practices. The archive will complement the CESAR (Calendrier électronique des spectacles sous l’Ancien Régime et sous la Révolution )- website, one of the most-valuable web-based resources for scholars and theater professionals interested in seventeenth and eighteenth- century French theater.
The Comédie Française Performance Archive is a project initiated by Dr. Jeffrey Ravel (Associate Professor in History at MIT) and developed in close collaboration with Dr. Mark Bannister, Professor of French, Oxford Brookes University; Dr. Christian Biet, Professor of the History and Aesthetics of Theater at the University of Paris-X (Nanterre); the Bibliothèque-Musée de la Comedie-Française, and the HyperStudio.
