Cultura
Cultura is a Web-based, intercultural project situated in a language class, that connects American students with other students in different countries. Sharing a common Website and a common calendar, students gradually construct together, through a computer-mediated exchange, a deeper understanding of each other’s cultural attitudes, beliefs and values.
The Cultura Community Site is intended to provide a meeting space for all parties interested in Cultura. The site provides the visitor with information on the original Cultura concept, its methodology and technology, as well as articles related to Cultura. In addition, one can take a look at the current and archived Cultura Exchanges, as well as set up a new exchange.
Cultura was designed at MIT and is currently hosted in the HyperStudio. The project was first funded by the Consortium for Language Teaching and Learning, then by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Cultura Community Site was launched on October 12, 2007 at the first Cultura Conference (MIT), celebrating the project’s tenth anniversary.
