Collaborative Close-Reading: Using Annotations in the Classroom
This workshop explores digital, collaborative annotation as a strategy for teaching and learning. You will hear from instructors about their experiences, learn about best practices of using annotation in different humanities subjects, and be introduced to Annotation Studio, a free online tool that allows individuals and groups to annotate, share, and discuss online documents. By individually or collectively annotating texts, students develop critical thinking skills while also honing the foundational skills of humanities research, writing, and presentation.
In this hands-on workshop participants learn how to create, tag, link, and share annotations using Annotation Studio and discuss how to best integrate digital text annotation in humanities curricula.
Sign up to attend the workshop here, and visit annotationstudio.org to learn more about the tool and different pedagogical uses.
